Guide · Certified translations
When do I need a traducción jurada for Spain?
The Spanish term refers to a particular form of official translation. Whether your record needs it depends on the actual procedure.

The short answer
If the Spanish recipient requests a traducción jurada, clarify the required credential before ordering. Spain’s foreign ministry maintains a register of appointed translators and describes their official certification. German sworn status should not automatically be described as the same credential. Also check any exceptions applying to your record.
Read the Spanish requirement precisely
Save the section of your authority’s checklist describing translation. Record language direction and document type so the enquiry is not based solely on the general term “certified”.
The ministry explains the status of the Traductores Jurados it appoints and their certification. Use the official register if that particular issuing route is required.

Check existing multilingual records
Ask whether your existing language version or a suitable multilingual form is sufficient. EU rules can simplify use of certain public documents; not every qualification record or private document is covered.
If you already hold a German-certified translation, show it to the recipient with the source. Clarify actual acceptance before assuming either a replacement is needed or recognition is automatic.

Confirm the required issuing route beforehand
Send the recipient’s instructions to discuss available options. A standard estimate does not establish appointment in the Spanish ministry’s register or a particular Spanish credential.
Clarify digital or printed delivery, issued copies and deadlines against the chosen route. Keep the source, translation and additional instructions together as a traceable set.
Your next steps
Record the Spanish recipient and intended use.
Check existing versions and possible exceptions.
Clarify translator status and availability.
Agree the output format for the confirmed route.
More questions
Is every Spanish translation a traducción jurada?
No. Language and official certification status are different features of an assignment.
Do I always need a new translation?
Check existing official language versions and ask the actual recipient about acceptance.
Does an estimate establish a specialist credential?
No. The required issuing route must be expressly agreed before a binding assignment.
